01/07/2022 Important Message from Stevenson

Friday, January 7, 2022

Dear Stevenson Families,

I wanted to inform you that Mr. Parker will be on leave for the remainder of the school year due to personal reasons. I am very honored to be stepping in as the Interim Principal of Stevenson Middle School for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year. I bring to this position seven years of combined experience as the Assistant Principal of Stevenson, as well as Dean of Students for Stevenson, and twelve years of experience as teacher in Chicago Public Schools. It has been, and continues to be, an honor to be an educational leader in our District and for our Stevenson community.

I have always been impressed with Stevenson’s educators and staff for their dedication and professionalism to our students and community. Stevenson is a place where strong connections have been made between staff, students and families. Due to these connections, we are currently designated as an Illinois Horizons School to Watch by Association of Illinois Middle Schools, one of only twenty-seven schools in Illinois!

During the coming weeks, I look forward to continuing to visit all classrooms, working together with teachers in continuing to support learning opportunities for our students, and getting to build relationships with our families. If you ever have a concern or question, please reach out and contact me at [email protected].

I am confident that working together as a team with our students, parents, and staff, we can build upon the good work that Mr. Parker and I have already planned for this school year. With this excellent foundation, I am confident that our students will have the best opportunity to reach their full potential. I look forward to continuing the many great accomplishments of Stevenson and leading our school to further success.

Sincerely,

Michael Cox
Interim Principal
Stevenson Middle School
