About Mrs. Angela Rio

Welcome to Eighth Grade Social Studies! This year we will be learning about our country’s history from 1877 to the present. Topics include, but are not limited to – westward expansion, industrialization, immigration, imperialism, world wars, economic depressions, economic prosperities, the civil rights movement, modern – day conflicts, elections, civic duties, and an end of the year – student initiated history project.

To tell you a little about myself, I started teaching at Irving Middle School in 2013, and have been with the district since 2007 – Stevenson (Reading), Garfield/Washington/Melrose Park (Reading Coach), Roosevelt (Reading), and Irving (Reading and Social Studies). I went to Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin obtaining my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in Social Studies. For my graduate studies, I attended Dominican University, graduating with a masters in Reading, receiving my Reading Specialist (K-12) Degree.

Some of my favorite things are spending time with my family, traveling throughout our beautiful country, playing board games, learning new things, the fall season, and teaching!

I look forward to an exciting year and getting to know all of you!
