May I be on the
agenda?
Citizens or groups who wish to formally appear on the
agenda must present the request in writing to the Superintendent at least five
business days prior to the Board meeting date. This time frame enables the Board

How are Board
meetings conducted?
The president of the Board conducts the meeting under
Robert's Rules of Order, Newly Revised. The agenda for each meeting is prepared by the
Superintendent and the Board President. Background material on agenda times is sent to
the Board members prior to the meetings. District #89's Board of Education chooses to
use a "Consent Agenda" procedure because it facilitates meetings and ensures efficient

What
does the Consent Agenda mean?
The Consent Agenda is a consolidation of monthly
or annual Items that require Board action. The Consent Agenda Motion Requires one
roll call vote of the Board rather than a number of individual motions. These items
receive the same attention by the Board members as the other agenda items. Members
may request additional information or question items on the Consent Agenda. A Board
member also may have a Consent Agenda item removed and considered separately on the
regular agenda.
