Parents play a vital role in education. At District 89, we appreciate partnerships with parents, including the many volunteer hours that parents give to our school community.
Using our website, parents canind more information about reporting their child's absence, when the school day begins and ends, individual school and district news, weekly events, current health requirements, how to request student records, and what is needed for registration.
District 89 families will soon have access to the parent portal, PowerSchool. PowerSchool provides information about individual student attendance, grades, and other information that helps keep parents connected.
District 89 uses an automated telephone broadcast system to inform parents via telephone when there is an unplanned event or emergency that requires school closing, or early or late dismissal. The system is also used for periodic reminders. In addition to resources on the District web site, parents are also encouraged to visit their local school web site, join the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), and attend regularly scheduled board meetings where additional resources and information are available.
